Kadokawa Says Elden Ring: Tarnished Edition And The Duskbloods Are Still On Track For 2026
FromSoftware fans, boleh tarik nafas sikit. Kadokawa has once again pointed to a 2026 launch window for Elden Ring: Tarnished Edition and The Duskbloods, even though we still do not have a proper release date for either game.
The update comes from Kadokawa’s latest earnings materials for its 2025 fiscal year, which ended on March 31. The company did not drop a date, trailer, or big gameplay blowout, but it did reaffirm that both Nintendo Switch 2 titles are planned for 2026.
That matters because Elden Ring: Tarnished Edition has not exactly had the smoothest road to launch. When Nintendo first showed off Switch 2, FromSoftware’s massive open-world RPG was one of the more eye-catching third-party names attached to the console. A portable Elden Ring experience sounds insane in the best way — especially for players in Malaysia and SEA who love handheld gaming because it fits around commutes, campus life, and lepak sessions.
But after that early excitement, previews reportedly made it clear that the Switch 2 version still needed work. Around Gamescom 2025, performance concerns became a big talking point, with the game seemingly struggling to hit the level of quality players would expect. Not long after, the Tarnished Edition was pushed out of 2025 and into 2026.
So Kadokawa repeating that 2026 target is not just corporate calendar filler. It is a small but important sign that, at least for now, the game has not slipped again.
The more encouraging bit is that newer previews have apparently shown a better version of Elden Ring running on Switch 2. If FromSoftware has managed to clean up the earlier issues, that would be huge. Elden Ring is already demanding on bigger hardware, so getting it into a polished portable-console form is not a simple copy-paste job.
For Malaysian players, the big question will be whether the final version feels worth double-dipping for. A lot of fans here already played Elden Ring on PC, PlayStation, or Xbox. The Switch 2 appeal is different: convenience, portability, and being able to jump back into the Lands Between without being locked to a desk or TV. If performance holds up, this could become one of those games people bring everywhere.
Then there is The Duskbloods, FromSoftware’s new Switch 2 exclusive. We have seen far less of this one, so there is not much to judge yet. Kadokawa’s forecast describes it as a new title from FromSoftware, also slated for Nintendo Switch 2 in 2026. Since it is being built for the platform from the start, fans will be hoping it avoids the same kind of performance drama that surrounded Elden Ring’s port.
Kadokawa also noted that it has 27 IPs in development across console and PC games. That does not mean 27 FromSoftware projects, since Kadokawa owns more than just FromSoftware, but it does suggest the company has a packed gaming pipeline.
For now, the takeaway is simple: no date yet, but no fresh delay either. Elden Ring: Tarnished Edition and The Duskbloods are still aiming for 2026, and Switch 2 owners in SEA should keep both firmly on the radar.
