Nintendo’s New Mineru Amiibo Is a Pricey Zelda Collectible Landing This September
Nintendo has finally put a date on its next The Legend of Zelda amiibo: Mineru’s Construct is launching on September 17, with a listed price of US$34.99 / £24.99.
For Zelda fans, especially collectors in Malaysia and SEA, this is one of those releases that looks small on paper but will probably become quite panas once pre-orders and import listings start moving. Amiibo stock here has always been a bit unpredictable — sometimes local game shops bring them in, sometimes you’re hunting through Shopee, Lazada, or import sellers with markup. At US$34.99, you’re already looking at roughly RM160+ before shipping, taxes, or reseller premiums, so don’t be shocked if local pricing lands higher.
The figure is based on Mineru’s Construct, the ancient Zonai robot that helps Link in The Legend of Zelda: Tears of the Kingdom. It’s a slightly odd timing move from Nintendo, since Tears of the Kingdom first arrived more than three years ago. That said, Mineru has stayed relevant thanks to Hyrule Warriors: Age of Imprisonment, while Tears of the Kingdom also got a renewed push with its Switch 2 version last year.
The bigger question is why Nintendo is releasing this now. The company has not given a deep explanation, but 2026 is a meaningful year for Zelda. The franchise’s 40th anniversary already passed in February without much noise, and fans are expecting Nintendo to properly address the milestone later in the year. IGN notes that updates on the live-action The Legend of Zelda movie and a leaked Ocarina of Time remake for Switch 2 are both expected before Christmas.
In that context, a fresh Zelda amiibo makes sense. It keeps the franchise in the conversation while Nintendo lines up whatever its bigger end-of-year plans are. If that Ocarina of Time remake really happens, Zelda hype is going to spike hard — and collectors know amiibo prices can get annoying very fast once demand catches fire.
The Mineru amiibo itself sounds more premium than a standard small figure. Nintendo says it has a detailed design, and the arms are articulated, meaning you can move and pose them. That makes it sound closer in spirit to the old Breath of the Wild Guardian amiibo, which stood out because it felt more like a proper display piece than just a simple NFC toy.
Functionally, scanning the Mineru amiibo on Switch or Switch 2 will give players random items in Hyrule Warriors: Age of Imprisonment, Breath of the Wild, and Tears of the Kingdom. Tears of the Kingdom players also get something extra: a unique glider fabric unlock. It’s not game-changing, but for Zelda completionists, cosmetic exclusives like this memang kena collect.
This also arrives during an interesting period for Nintendo. In its latest financial results, the company tried to calm concerns that Switch 2 momentum may be slowing, especially after confirmation of a price hike. Nintendo has said it still has multiple unannounced Switch 2 games planned for later this year, while also explaining that sales are stabilising after the console’s huge launch.
For Malaysian fans, the main takeaway is simple: if you collect Zelda merch, don’t wait too long. Mineru may not be the most obvious amiibo release, but a poseable Tears of the Kingdom figure landing in a major Zelda anniversary year is exactly the kind of thing that can become expensive once local stock dries up.
