Nintendo Switch 2 Gets New Pick-Your-Game Bundle Before US Price Hike
Nintendo has dropped a new Nintendo Switch 2: Choose Your Game Bundle, and if you’ve been waiting for a better reason to upgrade, this is probably the cleanest deal so far.
The bundle includes a Nintendo Switch 2 console plus one digital Switch 2-exclusive game. Buyers can pick from three titles: Mario Kart World, Donkey Kong Bananza, or Pokémon Pokopia. In the US, the bundle is priced at US$499.99, which is roughly around RM2,350 before taxes, shipping, and local retailer markup.
Why does this matter for Malaysian and SEA gamers? Because Nintendo hardware pricing here usually follows global supply pressure very quickly. Even if you’re buying through local game shops, Shopee, Lazada, or import sellers, any US price movement tends to ripple into our region. And according to IGN, the Switch 2 console price in the US is set to rise from US$449.99 to US$499.99 starting September 1.
So basically, this bundle lands at an interesting time: it gives you the console plus a game at the same price the standalone console will soon cost in the US. Not bad, honestly.
Which Game Should You Pick?
All three options are proper first-party Nintendo titles, but value-wise, Mario Kart World is the obvious pick if you want the most bang for buck. The game retails for US$79.99, while Donkey Kong Bananza and Pokémon Pokopia are listed at US$69.99 each.
That means Mario Kart World gives you the highest savings versus buying the console and game separately. Also, let’s be real, Mario Kart is the kind of game that works in Malaysia lah — family sessions, mamak-adjacent friend gatherings, dorm room chaos, and weekend couch multiplayer. It’s the safest “everyone can play” choice.
That said, Donkey Kong Bananza and Pokémon Pokopia are still strong picks depending on your taste. If you’re more into platforming or Pokémon’s cosy side, you’re not exactly losing here.
Switch 2 Is Starting To Look Like The Real Upgrade
The original Switch was legendary, but by the end of its life cycle, you could really feel the hardware struggling. The Switch 2 seems to fix a lot of that pain. IGN highlights the bigger 7.9-inch display, improved visuals, and stronger performance as major reasons the console feels like a proper step up.
Even though the Switch 2 uses an LCD screen instead of OLED, the display is apparently vibrant enough that it doesn’t feel like a downgrade in day-to-day play. More importantly, the power jump means games look and run much better, which is the thing SEA players will notice immediately.
Some of the new features like GameChat and the Joy-Con 2 mouse mode may or may not become essential. Cool tech, sure, but the real win is simple: smoother games, better-looking ports, and fewer painful compromises.
That third-party point is big. Nintendo systems usually get weaker versions of major releases, but Switch 2 is reportedly capable of handling games like Cyberpunk 2077, Star Wars Outlaws, and Resident Evil Requiem with far fewer downgrades. For Malaysian gamers who don’t want to buy a PS5, Xbox, or gaming PC just to play big releases, that could make Switch 2 much more attractive.
Should You Wait?
If you were already planning to buy a Switch 2 within the next year or two, this bundle makes sense — especially before the US price increase kicks in. Local pricing may vary, and Malaysian buyers should still compare listings carefully for warranty coverage, region details, and whether the included game code works smoothly with their Nintendo account region.
But as far as early Switch 2 deals go, this is one of the more sensible ones: console, first-party game, and some savings before prices potentially climb.
