This GameCube-Style Switch 2 Dock Cover Is Pure Nostalgia, But Malaysia Buyers Better Check The Price First

Krasivoe has a new Nintendo Switch 2 accessory aimed straight at gamers who still get emotional seeing that chunky purple GameCube shape. The indie accessory brand has launched the Cube Dock, a 3D-printed cover that turns the standard Switch 2 dock into something that looks heavily inspired by Nintendo’s iconic early-2000s cube console.

To be clear, this is not a full dock replacement. You still need your existing Switch 2 dock. The Cube Dock works more like a shell: slide the official dock into the back, and your setup instantly gets that retro Nintendo display-piece vibe.

For Malaysian Nintendo fans, especially those who grew up around GameCube, Wii, or even just Smash culture, this is the kind of accessory that looks dangerous for the wallet. It is very much a want, not a need — but wah, the nostalgia is strong.

How much does the Cube Dock cost?

The base Cube Dock starts at £89 on Etsy, which is roughly around RM520+ before any currency fees, shipping, or possible import-related costs. If you want the version with the game storage tray, the price goes up to £109, roughly around RM640+. GamesRadar notes that with postage included, it can hit £114, which is about RM670+.

That is a lot for a dock cover, especially when Switch 2 accessories are already not cheap. For Malaysian buyers, the final price could feel even heavier once bank conversion rates and delivery costs kick in. At that point, you are paying almost premium-controller money for something that mainly upgrades the look of your setup.

What do you actually get?

The standard Cube Dock gives your Switch 2 dock a GameCube-like body, with colour choices including the classic purple look, plus black and silver options. The upgraded tray version adds a clever touch: the top opens like the original GameCube disc lid and can store up to 18 physical Switch or Switch 2 games.

That part is genuinely useful if you still buy cartridges. In Malaysia and SEA, where many players still hunt for physical copies through local game shops, Shopee, Lazada, or second-hand groups, having one neat storage spot near the TV setup is actually practical.

There is also space at the front designed to pair with a GameCube controller adapter. That matters if you are the kind of Super Smash Bros. Ultimate player who refuses to touch anything except the classic GameCube controller layout. Krasivoe makes it clear that the adapter is not included, so you will need your own. GamesRadar mentions the Mayflash GameCube Controller Adapter as one available option at £17.99 or $18.99.

Nice idea, but not for everyone

The catch is that this is a 3D-printed accessory, so buyers should expect the usual print-line texture rather than a factory-moulded Nintendo-level finish. For some collectors, that is fine because the charm is in supporting a small indie storefront. Krasivoe describes itself as being founded by two gamers passionate about portable gaming, which definitely feels better than buying another soulless plastic shell from a random no-name listing.

But if your priority is pure value, there are cheaper alternatives. GamesRadar points to Retro Fighters’ Battle Dock, a $39.99 accessory with its own controller ports, though it currently has a waitlist. That is far cheaper than the Cube Dock, even if it may not deliver the same boxy GameCube look.

So yeah, the Cube Dock is not the sensible buy. It is the shelf-flex buy. If your Switch 2 setup is already becoming a little Nintendo shrine, this could look amazing beside your games, controllers, and Amiibo. But for most Malaysian players watching their accessory budget, maybe wait, compare shipping, and see whether that nostalgia hit is really worth RM600-ish.
