TODAK Announce Major Roster Overhaul Ahead of MPL MY Season 14

Out With the Old, In With the New

TODAK have confirmed sweeping roster changes ahead of MPL Malaysia Season 14, parting ways with jungler CikuGais and mid laner Ryzen following their Grand Finals defeat to Selangor Red Giants in Season 13. The moves represent the most aggressive roster overhaul in the organisation's history and signal a clear statement of intent: second place is no longer acceptable.

The S13 Grand Finals loss was the catalyst. TODAK were swept 4-0 by Selangor Red Giants in a series that exposed critical weaknesses in jungle pressure and mid-lane control. CikuGais struggled with the objective-centric meta, averaging just 28% turtle secure rate in the Finals — the lowest of any starting jungler in the bracket. Ryzen was neutralised in all four games, unable to create the roaming pressure TODAK's system relies on.

Management moved quickly. "This wasn't personal," said TODAK's general manager. "CikuGais and Ryzen gave us everything for three seasons. But the level of competition in MPL MY demands evolution."

Key Signings

Moon (Jungler) — from RRQ Hoshi

The Indonesian jungler was one of the most sought-after free agents in the region. Known for his aggressive invade-heavy playstyle, Moon brings a completely different dimension to TODAK's previously conservative approach. During his two-year stint at RRQ Hoshi, Moon was named MPL Indonesia Best Jungler in Season 11 and maintained the highest average gold differential at 10 minutes among all Indonesian junglers across both S11 and S12. His Ling and Fanny are considered among the best in all of Southeast Asia, and his objective secure rate across his RRQ career sat at an imposing 72%.

Moon's departure from RRQ Hoshi came after the Indonesian organisation opted for a full rebuild following their early exit at M5. Multiple MPL teams across the region courted him, including ECHO Philippines and Falcon Esports. TODAK ultimately won the bidding war by offering a two-season contract and a promise of roster stability around him.

"We needed someone who could dictate the tempo of the game from the jungle," said TODAK head coach Zane. "Moon does that better than anyone in Southeast Asia. He doesn't wait for the game to come to him — he takes it."

The signing also carries cross-regional significance. Indonesian players competing in MPL Malaysia remains relatively rare, and Moon's willingness to relocate to Kuala Lumpur signals the growing prestige of the Malaysian league. He has already moved into the TODAK team house in Bangsar and has been participating in scrims since early March.

Zeph (Mid Lane) — promoted from TODAK Academy

19-year-old Zeph has been tearing up the amateur circuit, and TODAK believe he's ready for the big stage. His hero pool is impressively deep, with strong performances on both mage and assassin picks. In the Malaysian amateur scene, Zeph dominated the MLBB University League last year, earning tournament MVP honours while leading his squad to an undefeated season. His Valentina and Yve performances drew particular attention from TODAK's scouting staff, who have been tracking him since he joined the academy eight months ago.

What sets Zeph apart is his adaptability. In internal scrims, he has shown equal comfort on aggressive roaming assassins and passive scaling mages — versatility that allows TODAK to draft flexibly without revealing their mid-lane strategy in the banning phase.

"Zeph reminds me of a young Ryzen, but with a wider champion pool," Zane said. "He's hungry, he's coachable, and he's not afraid of the big stage."

Remaining Roster

The core of TODAK remains intact:

  • 4Meyz (Gold Lane) — team captain and consistent carry. The 23-year-old has been with TODAK since MPL MY Season 8 and is the longest-serving player on the roster. His damage-per-minute numbers in S13 ranked second in the league behind only Selangor's Wizzking.
  • AJ (EXP Lane) — veteran presence and shotcaller. AJ's experience through four MPL seasons provides the leadership essential for integrating Moon and Zeph.
  • Yier (Roamer) — among the best roamers in MPL MY. His synergy with a new jungler will be the critical variable in TODAK's early-season performance.

Coach Zane's Vision

"Season 13 showed us that we can't just match Selangor blow for blow in the late game," Zane explained. "With Moon, we're building a team that wins games in the first eight minutes. If we can snowball early, no team in Malaysia can stop us."

The tactical philosophy is clear: early turtle control, aggressive invades, and lane pressure from minutes one through seven. In scrims, sources close to the team report that TODAK have been running hyper-aggressive Level 1 invade compositions that aim to steal the enemy blue buff and establish jungle dominance before the first turtle even spawns. The early results have reportedly been promising, with TODAK posting a strong record in March scrims against both MPL and amateur teams.

Fan Reaction and Analyst Predictions

The moves have been met with excitement from the TODAK faithful, with #TODAKNewEra trending on Malaysian Twitter within hours of the announcement. Fan sentiment has been overwhelmingly positive, though some long-time supporters expressed sadness at CikuGais' departure, with tribute posts and highlight compilations flooding the team's subreddit.

Analysts are cautiously optimistic. Former MPL MY caster and current analyst Syaz gave his assessment: "On paper, this is the strongest roster TODAK have ever assembled. Moon is a generational talent at the jungler position. The question is integration speed. Can Moon and Yier develop jungle-roamer synergy fast enough for Week 1? If they can, TODAK are genuine title favourites. If they can't, the first few weeks could be ugly."

The bookmakers appear to agree with the bullish outlook. TODAK have moved to second-favourites for the S14 title behind Selangor Red Giants, ahead of Geek Fam and Team HAQ. The pressure is now on to deliver results when MPL MY S14 kicks off on April 11.
