Totopia Turns Project ATOM Into a Free-to-Play Cozy Party Game With Beta Coming in May
Project ATOM finally has a proper name, and bro, it sounds like JNG Studio is cooking up something weirdly charming.
Revealed again during the ID@Xbox Spring Showcase 2026, the free-to-play cozy party platformer is now officially called Totopia. The game was first shown last year under the Project ATOM codename, but this latest update gives it a clearer identity — plus a first public beta test that starts very soon.
JNG Studio confirmed that Totopia’s first beta playtest will run from 7 May to 18 May 2026, with sign-ups available through the game’s Steam page. There’s still no full release date yet, but at least curious players won’t have to wait long to try it.
So what actually is Totopia?
Totopia looks like one of those “a bit of everything” games, but in a way that might actually make sense for casual friend groups. At its core, it is a bright, cartoon-style party platformer where players run through obstacle-course chaos, take on solo and co-op trials, and try not to fumble in front of the squad.
The easiest mental image is: imagine the messy energy of Fall Guys, then add a cozy life sim layer where you can build up your own home, decorate your space, go fishing, and talk to characters around the world. It’s not just about winning rounds and flexing movement skills — there’s also a chill side for players who want something more relaxed after the chaos.
JNG Studio says the game will include over 100 maps, which is a pretty big number for a party platformer if the variety holds up. Players can earn rewards and use them to unlock cosmetics, both for their character and their home inside Totopia.
More than just obstacle courses
What makes Totopia more interesting is that it doesn’t seem locked into one gameplay lane. Besides party platforming, the game also includes modes with a more third-person action feel, plus even some naval combat. That is a lot of systems for one free-to-play title, so the real question is whether it feels like a fun playground or becomes too scattered.
For Malaysia and SEA players, the free-to-play angle is the big hook. Party games usually live or die based on whether your friends are willing to jump in, and “free” removes the biggest barrier. If Totopia launches cleanly across platforms, it could be an easy Discord-night game — especially for friend groups split between PC, console, and mobile.
And yes, mobile support matters here. Totopia is planned not only for PC, but also PlayStation, Xbox, iOS, and Android. In SEA, that instantly makes it more relevant because plenty of players still game mainly on phones, while others are on Steam or console. Cross-platform availability does not automatically mean cross-play, so don’t assume that yet — but the platform spread is already promising.
Worth watching?
Totopia is not trying to be the next hardcore competitive esport, and that’s fine. It’s aiming for the cosy chaos lane: quick laughs, customisation, cute spaces, and enough variety to keep friend groups rotating modes.
The beta will be the real test. If the movement feels good, the maps are not repetitive, and the free-to-play economy doesn’t become annoying, Totopia could be one of those low-pressure games that quietly becomes a weekend staple.
For now, Malaysian players who want to try it early should keep an eye on the Steam beta starting 7 May 2026. No full launch date has been announced yet.
