Stellar Blade 2 May Be Better News For PC Players This Time

Stellar Blade 2 is already shaping up to be a very different release from the first game — and for PC players in Malaysia and SEA, this could be the news we wanted to hear.

Developer Shift Up has confirmed in its latest earnings update that the next Stellar Blade game will not be published by Sony. Instead, the Korean studio is moving toward self-publishing for the series, giving it more control over how the sequel is marketed, positioned, and launched globally.

That matters because the first Stellar Blade had a very console-first rollout. When it launched in 2024, it arrived as a timed PS5 exclusive. The PC version only came later in 2025. Console players got in early, while PC players had to tahan and wait.

This time, things may be different.

Shift Up said development on the next Stellar Blade title is moving well and that the game is tracking toward the studio’s quality target. More details are expected to be shared later this year. The company also said its new publishing setup will let it communicate the identity of Stellar Blade more directly to players, instead of relying on an external publishing partner to shape the messaging.

For Malaysian gamers, the big question is simple: will Stellar Blade 2 hit PC at launch?

Shift Up has not officially confirmed platforms or a simultaneous release yet, so jangan over-celebrate dulu. But the business logic is very obvious. Stellar Blade performed well on PS5, but the PC version was the one that really exploded. According to the figures shared, the game sold 1 million units on PC in just three days. By January 2026, total sales were estimated at 6.1 million copies, with more than half of the player base located in China.

That is a huge signal. PC is not some side platform for Stellar Blade anymore — it is one of the main engines behind the IP’s growth.

In SEA, this is especially relevant because a lot of players still prefer PC as their main gaming platform. Not everyone owns a PS5, and even among console fans, plenty of people would rather wait for a PC version if it means higher frame rates, more display options, and a longer content lifespan. If Shift Up wants the sequel to land hard across Asia, a day-one PC plan would make a lot of sense.

The first game also kept momentum going with crossover content from Nier Automata and Goddess of Victory: Nikke. Those updates brought extra content, additional modes, tougher boss encounters, and more outfits for Eve. That kind of post-launch support fits perfectly with a PC-heavy audience that sticks around, mods discussions aside, and keeps games alive through screenshots, guides, challenge runs, and community sharing.

Shift Up also mentioned that it is working on a wider global launch strategy designed to reach more players from day one. Again, that is not a PC launch confirmation. But combined with the self-publishing move and the strong PC numbers, it definitely sounds like the studio understands where the audience is.

Outside of Stellar Blade, Shift Up also said more information on Project Spirits, its next flagship title, will be revealed later this year. The company has also acquired Unbound, the new studio from Resident Evil creator Shinji Mikami, which is developing original PC and console games aimed at global players.

So yes, Stellar Blade 2 is still early in terms of public details. But the direction is clear: Shift Up wants more control, a bigger global push, and likely a smarter platform strategy.

For PC players in Malaysia and SEA who skipped the PS5 wait last time, this is one to watch closely.
