Overview
Control Resonant is a 2026 action role-playing game developed and published by Remedy Entertainment. It is the sequel to Remedy’s 2019 game Control. The game follows Dylan Faden, a paranaturally abled parautilitarian who first appeared as a supporting character in Control.
The story places Dylan at the center of a new crisis involving hostile entities, the Federal Bureau of Control, and his search for his estranged sister, Jesse Faden. Control Resonant continues the Control series’ focus on paranormal events, Objects of Power, and the Oldest House while shifting its playable focus to Dylan.
Gameplay
Control Resonant is an action role-playing game. Remedy described the sequel as holding on to key elements of storytelling and spectacle from the first game while increasing player agency, exploration, and role-playing mechanics.
The first Control included side quests and dialogue choices, but Remedy had discarded core role-playing systems such as skill trees and character build systems. For Control Resonant, the studio fully committed to action RPG design. The game adds character statistics, multiple talent trees, and customisable weapons.
Development on Control Resonant’s gameplay was handled by Remedy’s largest design team.
Setting
Control Resonant begins seven years after the Hiss invasion of the Oldest House. Dylan Faden is awakened by Federal Bureau of Control Director Jesse Faden using the Aberrant, an Object of Power, before she disappears.
Dylan is recruited by the Board during a new crisis after the FBC’s HRA defenses fail, allowing the Hiss to breach the Oldest House’s lockdown and escape into the outside world. At the same time, another Altered World Event called the Patterning has cut off Manhattan from the rest of the world and is rapidly warping reality.
Release
Control Resonant was released for PlayStation 5, Windows, and Xbox Series X/S on 24 September 2026. A macOS release is planned for later in 2026.
