Overview
Fire Emblem: Fortune's Weave is a 2026 tactical role-playing game for Nintendo Switch 2. It is the eighteenth mainline entry in the Fire Emblem series and takes place in the same world as Fire Emblem: Three Houses. The game is set in the Dagdan Empire and follows a customizable protagonist, Eshmel by default, alongside four key warriors known as the Flame Lords: Cai, Dietrich, Theodora, and Leda.
Gameplay
Players control five different characters: Eshmel and the four Flame Lords, each of whom has a dedicated story campaign connected to the Heroic Games. After an introductory section, players can choose which Flame Lord to follow through campaigns set in Dagsion, the Dagdan capital.
Dagsion serves as the central hub, where players can explore, shop for equipment and items, recruit party units, visit locations tied to the nation's gods, and stay at inns for experience points, items, and character-focused story events. Free time periods allow exploration beyond the capital through a world map, where players can encounter Skirmish battles, vendors, supply caches, and explorable locations.
Combat is split between grid-based Matches and party-based Clashes. Matches use turn-based tactical combat with unit positioning, movement and attack ranges, flanking, key enemy objectives, multiple weapon types, and a limited rewind option. Clashes occur during dungeon exploration, where a squad of four chosen units fights enemy groups with combination attacks using Link Points. Unit abilities are shaped by a class system, weapon access, exclusive moves, passive abilities, Combat Arts, and Blaze Arts used by the Flame Lords.
Setting
Fortune's Weave takes place in Dagda, a continent-spanning empire bordered by Saramis, Arago, and Brezarant, with Dagsion at its center. The Heroic Games are a six-month combat event held in honor of Dagda's founding god-emperor, with the winner granted their heart's desire. Eshmel is chosen to ensure the Flame Lords survive against the demon god Balor.
