Pragmata is Capcom's most ambitious new intellectual property in over a decade, a third-person action-adventure set against the backdrop of a near-future world where humanity's expansion to the Moon has triggered consequences that threaten reality itself. First announced at Sony's PlayStation event in 2020, the game spent six years in development at Capcom's internal studio, built on the same RE Engine that powers the Resident Evil remakes and Devil May Cry 5.
Players assume the role of a special operative deployed to a destabilised near-future Tokyo, where they encounter Ryn, a young girl with mysterious abilities tied to a phenomenon that is warping the fabric of space and time. Together, the pair must navigate hostile environments on Earth and the Moon, uncovering a conspiracy that spans corporations, governments, and the lunar colonies that have become humanity's new frontier.
The game's standout feature is its companion system. Ryn is not a passive character to be escorted — she is an active participant in both combat and exploration. Players can direct her abilities through a radial command system, using her gravitational manipulation to solve environmental puzzles, create tactical advantages in combat, and access areas that would otherwise be unreachable. The dynamic between the protagonist and Ryn forms both the mechanical and emotional core of the experience.
Visually, Pragmata represents a new benchmark for the RE Engine. The near-future Tokyo environments are dense with detail and atmospheric lighting, while the lunar sequences deliver a sense of scale and isolation that ranks among the most impressive in gaming. Zero-gravity traversal sections add variety to the gameplay, and the game's sound design — particularly the contrast between Earth's bustling environments and the Moon's eerie silence — creates powerful immersion.
The campaign spans approximately 14 to 16 hours, taking players from rain-soaked Tokyo streets to the vast expanse of the lunar surface and back. A New Game Plus mode offers increased challenge for returning players.

Tips for New Players
- Prioritise Ryn's abilities in puzzles — most environmental challenges have multiple solutions, but Ryn's gravity well ability is almost always the most efficient path forward.
- Use cover liberally — combat is punishing when played aggressively, especially in the later chapters. Lean into the tactical options rather than treating encounters like a run-and-gun shooter.
- Explore thoroughly on the Moon — lunar environments contain hidden data logs and equipment caches that provide significant upgrades and crucial narrative context.
- Switch between Performance and Quality mode — Performance mode (60fps) is recommended for combat-heavy sections, but Quality mode's ray tracing adds significant visual impact to the quieter exploration segments.
- Listen to audio logs immediately — several contain time-sensitive codes and hints for optional puzzles that become inaccessible after progressing past certain story checkpoints.
SEA Community

Capcom ran dedicated marketing campaigns across the region, including influencer partnerships with prominent SEA content creators and pre-launch demo events at gaming festivals in Jakarta and Bangkok. The game's sci-fi themes and Asian-influenced near-future setting have resonated strongly with regional audiences, and community discussions on platforms like Facebook Gaming Groups, Reddit, and Discord are thriving. The game supports Simplified Chinese, Traditional Chinese, and Japanese language options in addition to English, making it accessible across the region's diverse linguistic landscape.
