Overview

The Witcher 3: Wild Hunt – Remastered is the remastered version of The Witcher 3: Wild Hunt, an action role-playing game and the third entry in The Witcher video game series. It follows the Witcher fantasy novels by Polish author Andrzej Sapkowski and is played from a third-person perspective in an open world. Players control Geralt of Rivia, a monster slayer for hire known as a Witcher.

Gameplay

Players explore the world as Geralt, who can walk, run, roll, dodge, jump, climb, and swim. Combat uses weapons and magic, including bombs, a crossbow, and two swords: a steel sword mainly used against humans and a silver sword that is more effective against creatures and monsters. Geralt can use light and heavy melee attacks, block and counter enemy attacks, and cast five magical signs: Aard, Axii, Igni, Yrden, and Quen.

The game includes dynamic environments, with a day-night cycle that affects some monsters. Players can study enemies through the in-game bestiary, loot defeated enemies, craft potions and bombs, and visit blacksmiths and armorers to craft gear. Completing quests grants experience points and gold, which are used to improve Geralt’s abilities and buy equipment. Ability points can be spent on combat, signs, alchemy, and general upgrades.

The game also features dialogue choices, side quests, Witcher Contracts, Treasure Hunt quests, horse riding, boating, horse racing, boxing, and card playing.

Setting

The game is set on the Continent, a fictional fantasy world based on Slavic folklore. Humans, elves, dwarves, monsters, and other creatures co-exist there, while non-humans are often persecuted in the northern realms. The opening premise follows Geralt as he searches for his adopted daughter, Ciri, who is on the run from the Wild Hunt.

Release

The Witcher 3: Wild Hunt – Remastered was released on September 29, 2026 for Windows, Nintendo Switch 2, PlayStation 5, and Xbox Series X/S. The remastered version was developed by CD Projekt Red and Yigsoft, and published by CD Projekt.
