How to Top Up Genshin Impact Genesis Crystals in Malaysia

Last Updated: March 30, 2025

What Are Genesis Crystals?

Genesis Crystals are the premium currency in Genshin Impact. You use them to buy Primogems (which fuel the gacha wish system), purchase the Blessing of the Welkin Moon, or buy cosmetic outfits from the in-game shop. Genesis Crystals convert to Primogems at a 1:1 ratio, but they are the only currency that can buy certain cosmetic items directly, so some players keep a reserve rather than converting everything immediately.

For Malaysian players, there are multiple ways to purchase Genesis Crystals, and the pricing and bonuses differ depending on the platform and method you choose.

Genesis Crystal Pricing in Malaysia (MYR)

Here is the standard pricing for Genesis Crystals across platforms. Prices listed are approximate MYR values and may shift slightly depending on exchange rates and platform fees.

| Crystal Amount | MYR Price (Approx.) | First-Time Bonus | Total (First Purchase) | |----------------|---------------------|-------------------|------------------------| | 60 Crystals | RM 3.90 | +60 | 120 Crystals | | 300 Crystals | RM 16.90 | +300 | 600 Crystals | | 980 Crystals | RM 34.90 | +980 | 1,960 Crystals | | 1,980 Crystals | RM 69.90 | +1,980 | 3,960 Crystals | | 3,280 Crystals | RM 109.90 | +3,280 | 6,560 Crystals | | 6,480 Crystals | RM 219.90 | +6,480 | 12,960 Crystals |

The first-time buyer bonus doubles your crystals for each denomination. This bonus resets per tier, meaning you get the double bonus once for the 60-crystal pack, once for the 300-crystal pack, and so on. After the bonus is used, subsequent purchases give a smaller top-up bonus instead.

Method 1: In-Game Purchase

The simplest method is buying directly from the in-game Crystal Top-Up screen. Open Genshin Impact, go to the shop, and tap the Genesis Crystals tab.

Available payment methods (PC/mobile):

  • Credit/debit card (Visa, Mastercard)
  • On mobile: Apple App Store (iOS) or Google Play Store (Android) billing

If you are on PC, you will be redirected to the HoYoverse payment gateway, which supports cards and select e-wallets depending on your region. On mobile, you pay through your respective app store, which means you can use any payment method linked to your Apple ID or Google account.

Important note: Crystals purchased on one platform stay on that platform. If you buy on iOS, you can only see those crystals when logged in on iOS. However, once converted to Primogems, they are available across all platforms.

Method 2: HoYoverse Web Top-Up (Recommended)

The HoYoverse official web top-up centre is the best method for most Malaysian players. It works across all platforms and avoids the app store fees that Apple and Google charge.

How to use it:

  1. Go to the HoYoverse top-up centre (search "Genshin Impact top up" on HoYoverse's official site).
  2. Log in with your HoYoverse account.
  3. Select your server (Asia for Malaysian players).
  4. Choose the crystal amount.
  5. Select your payment method and complete the transaction.

Payment methods:

  • Touch 'n Go eWallet
  • GrabPay
  • Boost
  • Online banking (FPX — Maybank, CIMB, Public Bank, RHB, Hong Leong, etc.)
  • Credit/debit card
  • Razer Gold

This is the recommended method because:

  • It bypasses Apple and Google platform fees, so pricing is often slightly lower.
  • It supports all major Malaysian eWallets and banking options.
  • Crystals are delivered instantly and are accessible on every platform.

Method 3: Codashop

Codashop is an authorised HoYoverse partner for Genshin Impact top-ups in Malaysia. The process is similar to the web top-up but with a few added conveniences.

Steps:

  1. Visit Codashop.com and select Genshin Impact.
  2. Enter your HoYoverse UID (found in-game under your profile).
  3. Select the server (Asia).
  4. Choose the crystal pack.
  5. Pay using your preferred method.

Codashop payment options:

  • Touch 'n Go eWallet
  • GrabPay
  • Boost
  • FPX online banking
  • Credit/debit card
  • Telco billing (Celcom, Digi, Maxis, U Mobile)

Codashop occasionally runs promotions offering bonus crystals or cashback. These are especially common during major Genshin Impact version updates and Malaysian festive periods. Pricing outside of promotions is the same as the official HoYoverse top-up centre.

Method 4: Apple App Store (iOS)

If you play on iPhone or iPad, you can purchase crystals through the App Store. Your Apple ID payment method will be charged. Malaysian Apple IDs support credit/debit cards, Touch 'n Go, and Apple Gift Cards.

You can buy Apple Gift Cards at 7-Eleven, KK Mart, and other retail outlets in Malaysia. Denominations typically range from RM 15 to RM 500.

Downside: Apple takes a platform commission, so crystal pricing on iOS can be marginally higher than the web top-up. Always compare before buying.

Method 5: Google Play Store (Android)

Android players can buy crystals through Google Play billing. Google Play in Malaysia supports:

  • Credit/debit cards
  • Touch 'n Go eWallet
  • GrabPay
  • Google Play Gift Cards (available at 7-Eleven, KK Mart, Tesco/Lotus's)
  • Telco billing (Maxis, Celcom, Digi)

Like Apple, Google takes a platform cut. Pricing is usually comparable to the App Store but slightly higher than the HoYoverse web top-up.

Welkin Moon vs Genesis Crystals: Value Comparison

The Blessing of the Welkin Moon is widely considered the best value purchase in Genshin Impact. Here is why.

| Purchase | Cost (MYR) | Primogems Received | Cost Per Primogem | |------------------|------------|--------------------|-------------------| | Welkin Moon | RM 19.90 | 2,700 (over 30 days) | RM 0.0074 | | 300 Crystals | RM 16.90 | 300 | RM 0.0563 | | 3,280 Crystals | RM 109.90 | 3,280 | RM 0.0335 | | 6,480 Crystals | RM 219.90 | 6,480 | RM 0.0339 |

The Welkin Moon costs RM 19.90 and gives you 300 Genesis Crystals immediately plus 90 Primogems per day for 30 days, totalling 2,700 Primogems plus the 300 crystals. That works out to roughly RM 0.0074 per Primogem — about five times cheaper than buying crystals directly.

If you are a light spender, buying Welkin Moon every month is far more efficient than buying crystal packs. You can stack up to 180 days of Welkin Moon at a time.

For moderate spenders, combining the Welkin Moon with the Battle Pass (Gnostic Hymn at around RM 39.90) gives you the most pull value per ringgit.

First-Time Buyer Bonus Strategy

Since the first-time bonus doubles each crystal tier, experienced players recommend claiming the bonus across all tiers rather than repeatedly buying the same denomination. If you only buy the 6,480-crystal pack, you get the bonus once for that tier. But if you buy each tier once from 60 to 6,480, you get the double bonus on all six tiers for a total of 25,520 crystals from roughly RM 455 — significantly more than buying the 6,480 pack twice (12,960 + roughly 6,480 + bonus).

Plan your first-time purchases carefully, especially before a banner featuring a character you want.

Payment Tips for Malaysian Players

Touch 'n Go eWallet is the most widely accepted method across all platforms and third-party sellers. If you only maintain one eWallet, TnG covers nearly every scenario.

GrabPay is a strong second choice and is supported on Codashop, Google Play, and the HoYoverse web top-up centre. Some Grab promotions offer points or cashback on digital purchases.

FPX online banking is reliable and fee-free. Maybank, CIMB, and Public Bank tend to process the fastest with the fewest timeouts.

Telco billing through Codashop is convenient if you have prepaid credit to spare, but it is generally the most expensive method due to carrier surcharges. Avoid this unless you have no other option.

Common Issues

Crystals not appearing after purchase: Wait 10 to 15 minutes. If still missing, check that you are on the correct server (Asia) and the correct platform (if bought via iOS or Android, log in on that device). Contact HoYoverse support with your payment receipt if the issue persists.

Wrong server selected on web top-up: Crystals go to whichever server you selected during purchase. There is no way to transfer them. Always double-check your server before paying.

HoYoverse UID vs username: Codashop and the web top-up require your numeric UID, not your display name. Find your UID in-game by opening your profile — it is the nine-digit number at the bottom of the screen.

Final Recommendations

For the absolute best value as a Malaysian player: buy the Welkin Moon monthly through the HoYoverse web top-up, pay with Touch 'n Go or FPX, and save your first-time crystal bonuses for when a must-pull banner drops. If you spot a Codashop promotion, take advantage of it — but never buy from unofficial resellers or account sellers, as HoYoverse actively bans accounts involved in fraudulent transactions.
