Marvel Rivals Hero Tier List

Welcome to our definitive Marvel Rivals hero tier list for Season 2. Whether you are grinding ranked or just trying to figure out which hero to learn next, this tier list breaks down every character based on their current performance in the competitive meta. We update this list after every major balance patch to keep it accurate and relevant.

Marvel Rivals features a growing roster of heroes spread across three roles — Vanguard (tanks who create space and absorb damage), Duelist (damage dealers who secure eliminations), and Strategist (support heroes who heal and enable their team). Understanding where each hero sits in the current tier list helps you make smarter picks during the draft phase and gives you a clearer picture of which matchups favor your team.

Our rankings reflect performance across all skill levels, with extra weight given to high-ranked competitive play where team coordination and hero optimization matter most. If you are playing in a more casual environment, remember that comfort and familiarity with a hero often matters more than their tier placement. A well-played B-tier hero will outperform a poorly played S-tier hero every time.

Methodology and Current Meta

This tier list is built from a combination of competitive win rates, pick rates across Diamond and above, professional and semi-professional tournament results, and hands-on testing by our review team. We also incorporate community feedback and data from popular tracking sites to ensure our rankings reflect the lived experience of the player base.

The Season 2 meta has shifted significantly from Season 1. The nerfs to Peni Parker and buffs to Magneto have reshaped the Vanguard landscape, while Luna Snow's healing output adjustments have cemented her as the premier Strategist pick. On the Duelist side, Spider-Man continues to dominate thanks to his unmatched mobility and burst potential, making him a near-mandatory pick at the highest levels of play.

S-tier heroes are the strongest picks in the current meta. They excel in most team compositions, perform well across all maps and modes, and offer high impact with relatively reasonable skill requirements. Spider-Man's web-slinging mobility makes him nearly impossible to pin down while he dishes out consistent damage. Magneto's area denial and crowd control reshape entire team fights. Luna Snow provides the highest sustained healing in the game with a satisfying rhythm-based mechanic. Jeff the Land Shark is the meta-defining off-support, offering burst healing and one of the most disruptive ultimates in the game.

A-tier heroes are strong, reliable picks that perform well in most situations. Iron Man brings consistent ranged damage and flight mobility. Thor offers a devastating combination of burst damage and crowd control with his Bifrost ultimate. Hela dominates long sightlines with oppressive ranged pressure. Groot provides solid healing and zoning with his root abilities, making him a flexible Strategist choice.

B-tier heroes are solid but situational. They shine on specific maps or in certain team compositions but lack the universal effectiveness of higher-tier picks. Hulk is a powerful but predictable Vanguard who can be kited by mobile teams. Storm offers strong area damage but struggles against dive compositions. Rocket Raccoon brings unique utility but requires a team built around protecting him. Cloak and Dagger offer an interesting dual-hero mechanic with strong healing potential but a high skill ceiling that limits their effectiveness for most players.

C-tier heroes are currently underperforming relative to the rest of the roster. Black Widow's hitscan damage is outclassed by other Duelists with better utility. Hawkeye suffers from a similar problem, offering precision damage without enough team value to justify the pick. Namor has an interesting kit but struggles to find a consistent role in the current meta, often outperformed by other Vanguards who bring more reliable crowd control.

Role Breakdown and Tips

Vanguard: The Vanguard role is all about creating space and initiating fights. In the current meta, Magneto stands head and shoulders above the competition thanks to his ability to control large areas and displace enemies. If Magneto is banned or taken, Groot (as an off-tank hybrid) and Hulk are your best alternatives, though both require more team support to be effective.

Duelist: Spider-Man is the king of the Duelist role right now, and it is not particularly close. His mobility allows him to engage, secure a kill, and escape before the enemy team can react. Iron Man and Thor are strong secondary picks, offering more straightforward damage output with solid survivability. If you are learning the Duelist role, Iron Man is the most forgiving entry point.

Strategist: Luna Snow is the clear top pick for primary healer. Her consistent output and self-sustain make her a reliable backbone for any team composition. Jeff the Land Shark excels as a secondary support, providing burst healing and one of the game's best defensive ultimates. Groot works as a flex Strategist for teams that want more zoning and utility over raw healing numbers.

General tips for climbing ranked: Focus on mastering two to three heroes across at least two roles. Pay attention to Team-Up synergies when drafting — a well-synergized team with A-tier heroes will consistently outperform a disorganized team running all S-tier picks. Adapt to the map and mode, communicate with your team, and remember that consistency beats flashy plays over a long ranked session.
