Monster Hunter Wilds Breaks Sales Records Across Southeast Asia

Capcom has announced that Monster Hunter Wilds has broken all previous sales records across Southeast Asia within its first two weeks of release, surpassing the lifetime sales of Monster Hunter World in the region by a staggering 180 percent. The game, which launched globally on March 5, has resonated particularly strongly with players in Malaysia, Singapore, and Thailand, where pre-order numbers alone exceeded Capcom's most optimistic projections.

In Malaysia, Monster Hunter Wilds debuted at the number one spot across all platforms, with physical retail sales accounting for roughly 40 percent of total units sold. Digital sales through PlayStation Store and Steam made up the remaining 60 percent, reflecting the growing shift toward digital purchases in the country. Retailers in Kuala Lumpur reported sold-out collector's editions within hours of release.

"Southeast Asia has always been an important market for the Monster Hunter franchise, but the reception for Wilds has truly exceeded our expectations," said Hiroki Matsumoto, a fictional senior analyst at Capcom's regional division. "We are seeing engagement metrics that rival Japan and North America."

Singapore saw a 220 percent increase in day-one sales compared to Monster Hunter Rise, with gaming cafes across the island reporting packed sessions dedicated to co-op hunts. Thailand's gaming community embraced the title with equal enthusiasm, with Thai-language content creators driving significant awareness through livestreams and social media.

Industry analyst Mei Ling Chow from Digital SEA Research noted that the success reflects a broader trend. "The SEA gaming audience is maturing rapidly. Players here are willing to invest in premium titles that deliver quality experiences. Monster Hunter Wilds is proof that AAA releases can find massive audiences beyond traditional Western and Japanese markets," she explained.

Capcom has confirmed plans to host regional community events in Kuala Lumpur and Bangkok later this year, further cementing its commitment to the Southeast Asian market.
