Riot Games Announces Major Valorant Tournament for Southeast Asia

Riot Games has officially announced the Valorant Southeast Asia Championship 2025, a dedicated regional tournament circuit that will feature a combined prize pool of $2 million and qualifying events in six countries including Malaysia, Indonesia, the Philippines, Thailand, Singapore, and Vietnam. The announcement was made during a special broadcast event, signaling Riot's deepening commitment to the SEA competitive scene.

The tournament will be structured in three phases. Open qualifiers will take place online from March through May, with the top teams from each country advancing to a regional group stage. The group stage will be held as a LAN event in Bangkok, Thailand, during July. The grand finals are scheduled for September in Manila, Philippines, at the Mall of Asia Arena, with an expected live audience capacity of 15,000 spectators.

"Southeast Asia is one of the most passionate and fastest-growing regions for Valorant esports," said Kevin Liu, Riot Games' head of esports for Asia Pacific. "This dedicated championship circuit is our way of giving the incredible talent in this region a proper stage. We believe SEA has the potential to produce world-class teams that can compete at the highest level."

The announcement has generated significant excitement within the SEA esports community. Popular Filipino Valorant team Blaze Esports expressed enthusiasm about the new circuit, with team captain Javier "Viper" Santos stating, "We have been waiting for a tournament of this scale in our region. SEA players have always had the skill, but we needed the infrastructure and opportunities. This changes everything."

Industry analyst Ravi Shankar from Esports Asia Insights estimated that the tournament could attract over 50 million unique online viewers across all platforms, making it one of the largest esports events in the region's history. Sponsorship interest has reportedly been strong, with major regional brands in telecommunications and consumer electronics already securing partnership deals.

Riot Games also confirmed that broadcast coverage will be available in six languages, including Bahasa Melayu, Thai, Vietnamese, Filipino, Bahasa Indonesia, and English, ensuring accessibility for fans across the diverse region.
