Discord Nitro is getting a proper gaming perk now: Xbox Game Pass.
Discord and Microsoft have announced that the full Discord Nitro plan will include a new starter-style version of Xbox Game Pass, making Nitro one of the cheapest ways to access part of Microsoft’s subscription gaming library. This is not the full Game Pass package, though, so jangan terlalu excited before reading the fine print.
The bundle is tied to the regular Discord Nitro plan at US$9.99 per month, not Nitro Basic. For Malaysian users, that still lands in the “monthly gaming spend” zone once you convert from USD, so the real value depends on whether you already use Nitro for uploads, server boosts, custom profiles, emoji, streaming quality, and the usual Discord extras.
What you get on the Game Pass side is a lighter version that Discord is calling a starter edition. It includes access to “50+ PC and console games,” which sounds decent for casual players or anyone who wants to try a rotating library without paying for the larger Xbox Game Pass plans.
But this tier comes with some serious limits. Console online multiplayer is not included, and cloud game streaming is capped at 10 hours per month. That second one matters if you were hoping to treat this as a portable cloud gaming pass on your phone, tablet, or low-spec laptop. Ten hours can disappear fast if you main long RPGs, grindy co-op titles, or weekend gaming sessions.
For Malaysia and SEA, the more interesting angle is PC gaming. Discord is already the default hangout spot for a lot of local gaming groups, college squads, esports communities, MMO guilds, and streamer circles. If your friends are on Discord every night, having Game Pass tied into that same ecosystem makes discovery much easier.
Discord is also integrating Game Pass with its “Now Playing” status. If a friend is playing a Game Pass title, Nitro subscribers will be able to launch that game directly from Discord, likely through the Xbox app. That sounds small, but for PC players, friction matters. If your squad sees someone playing and can jump in immediately, that is exactly how random weeknight sessions happen.
Still, this is not automatically a must-buy. If you mainly play free-to-play titles like Valorant, Mobile Legends, Genshin Impact, Fortnite, or Apex Legends, the Game Pass add-on may not change your life. If you already pay for a higher Game Pass tier, this starter bundle is probably redundant. But if you are already a Nitro user and you occasionally want to sample PC or console games, this is a nice upgrade at no extra tier jump.
There are also new hardware-related perks. Discord says Nitro users will get discounts of up to 30% on Logitech G, SteelSeries, and KontrolFreak products as part of the updated Nitro offering. Those brands are familiar names for Malaysian gamers buying headsets, mice, keyboards, controllers, and thumbstick accessories, though local availability and final prices will depend on regional sellers and promotions.
The rollout will happen in waves over the coming weeks, so don’t panic if the Game Pass perk does not appear in your Nitro account immediately.
Big picture: Microsoft clearly wants Game Pass to show up where gamers already are, not only inside the Xbox app. Discord is a smart partner because it sits right in the middle of PC gaming culture. For SEA players, this could be a useful low-commitment entry point — just remember it is Game Pass Lite, not the full buffet.
