Nintendo’s New Switch 2 Bundle Gives One Last Game Pick Before The Price Hike

Nintendo is giving Switch 2 buyers one final sweetener before the console gets more expensive in several markets later this year.

The company has announced a new Nintendo Switch 2 Choose Your Game Bundle, priced at US$499.99. The package includes a brand-new Switch 2 console and a download code for one of three first-party games: Mario Kart World, Donkey Kong Bananza, or Pokémon Pokopia.

The bundle is set to go live in early June 2026, ahead of Nintendo’s planned price increase on September 1, 2026. After that date, US$499.99 becomes the base entry price for the Switch 2 console alone in affected markets.

For Malaysian buyers, that US$499.99 price works out to roughly RM2.3k before taxes, shipping, exchange-rate swings, and local retailer markup. So no, this is not exactly cheap-cheap. But if official Malaysian or Singapore-region pricing follows the same pattern, getting a full first-party Nintendo game included could make a real difference.

The key change here is choice. Nintendo previously had a Mario Kart World bundle at the same price, but that was basically take-it-or-leave-it. If you wanted Switch 2 and did not care about Mario Kart, too bad bro, that was the game. This new version lets you pick from three major Nintendo releases, which makes the bundle much easier to recommend depending on your play style.

Mario Kart World is still the safest pick for families, parties, dorm rooms, and anyone who wants instant multiplayer chaos. It is also the biggest Switch 2 first-party seller so far, with 14.7 million units sold. That number was likely helped a lot by being packed in with consoles for a long time, but still, Mario Kart is Mario Kart. In Malaysia, this is the one you bring out during gatherings and suddenly everyone wants a turn.

Donkey Kong Bananza is the second-place title mentioned in the report, sitting at 4.52 million units sold. Compared with Mario Kart World, that is a huge gap. Including it in this new bundle feels like Nintendo trying to push more players toward its other big first-party release instead of letting Mario Kart carry the entire generation alone.

Pokémon Pokopia is the most interesting option. Nintendo has reportedly treated it as a system-seller, and honestly, that tracks. Pokémon has massive pull across SEA, from casual fans to collectors to people who only buy Nintendo hardware when a major Pokémon game arrives. If you are buying Switch 2 mainly for Pokémon, this bundle is probably the one to watch.

The timing also matters. Switch 2 is approaching its one-year anniversary, and the library now has more than one obvious first-party game to build a bundle around. For SEA players who were waiting instead of buying at launch, this could be the last decent-value official bundle before the higher console-only price kicks in.

Of course, we still need to see how local retailers handle stock, warranty, and regional pricing. Malaysian buyers should compare official channels against import sets carefully, especially when the difference can be a few hundred ringgit once warranty and game-region convenience are counted.

Bottom line: if you already planned to buy a Switch 2 before September, this bundle is the smarter move. If you were still waiting for a price drop, bad news bro — Nintendo seems to be moving in the opposite direction.
