Sony is ready to fire the first big shot of the summer showcase season. The next PlayStation State of Play is happening on June 2 at 5PM ET, and this one is not a tiny teaser reel — Sony says the stream will run for more than an hour.

For Malaysian viewers, that means an early-morning watch if you want to catch it live. The showcase will be available in English on YouTube and Twitch, while a Japanese-subtitled version will also stream on YouTube.

Wolverine is the big one to watch

The headline game here is clearly Marvel’s Wolverine, Insomniac Games’ upcoming PS5 action adventure starring Logan. Sony says Insomniac will show more of the game, including Wolverine’s brutal combat and fresh details about what players can expect.

That matters because Marvel’s Wolverine is shaping up to be one of PlayStation’s biggest first-party releases of the year. Insomniac already has serious superhero credentials thanks to its Spider-Man games, so expectations are naturally high. But Wolverine is a very different character from Peter Parker or Miles Morales. Fans are going to want to see whether the studio can make Logan feel heavy, vicious and properly dangerous — not just Spider-Man with claws.

The game is currently set to launch on PS5 on September 15.

Why Malaysia and SEA players should care

For PlayStation fans in Malaysia, this State of Play is worth paying attention to for two reasons.

First, if you already own a PS5, Wolverine may become one of the clearest reasons to keep the console plugged in this year. Big single-player PlayStation exclusives still carry a lot of weight here, especially among players who may be choosing between console gaming, PC upgrades and handheld setups. A strong Wolverine showing could push fence-sitters closer to buying the game at launch.

Second, PC players should not assume this will arrive on Steam quickly. Engadget notes that Wolverine is probably not heading to PC soon, amid reports that Sony is leaning back toward PS5 platform exclusivity for its single-player titles. That is a big deal in SEA, where many players are PC-first because of cybercafes, custom rigs and easier digital deals. If Sony keeps more of its big story-driven games locked to PS5 for longer, Malaysian fans may need to rethink whether waiting for a PC version is still the safe move.

A long showcase means room for more

Sony has only confirmed the Wolverine appearance in the provided details, but an hour-plus runtime means this is a proper showcase, not just a quick update. Even if Wolverine is the main attraction, PlayStation fans will be watching closely for how Sony frames its upcoming PS5 lineup during the broader not-E3 and Summer Game Fest window.

No cap, the timing is smart. Before the usual flood of trailers and announcements kicks in, Sony gets to set the mood first. If Wolverine lands well, the conversation around PlayStation’s 2026 lineup could get very loud very quickly.

For now, Malaysian fans should mark the stream, prepare the kopi, and maybe accept that this one is an early-morning watch party situation.
