Samsung’s Galaxy Tab S11 series is finally getting its proper stable One UI 8.5 update, after spending around a month in beta. The rollout has started in South Korea first, which is pretty standard Samsung behaviour before wider regions get their turn.
For Galaxy Tab S11 owners, the update carries firmware build X736NKOU5BZE3. If you are on the bigger Galaxy Tab S11 Ultra, the build to look out for is X936NKOU5BZE3.
Right now, the update is confirmed for South Korean units. Other markets are expected to follow, although there is no exact timing yet for Malaysia, Singapore, Indonesia, Thailand, or the rest of SEA. So if your tablet does not show anything today, relax first bro — this kind of Samsung rollout usually moves in phases.
What One UI 8.5 brings
One UI 8.5 is not the flashiest update in Samsung’s pipeline, especially because One UI 9 beta is already moving forward on other devices. But for Tab S11 users, this is still a meaningful update because it brings the stable branch after weeks of beta testing.
The update includes improvements to Bixby, connectivity upgrades, and some visual polish. One of the noticeable design changes mentioned is the use of transparent blur effects, which should make parts of the interface feel more modern and premium on Samsung’s large tablet displays.
For a device like the Galaxy Tab S11 Ultra, that matters more than people think. A tablet is not just about raw specs — the software has to feel smooth across multitasking, media, work apps, and gaming. If Samsung tightens the UI and connectivity behaviour here, it helps the Tab S11 series feel more like a serious iPad Pro rival instead of just a big Android screen.
Why Malaysian users should care
In Malaysia and SEA, Samsung’s premium tablets are popular with a very specific crowd: students who want one device for notes and Netflix, creators editing on the go, office workers using DeX, and gamers who want a big AMOLED display for titles like Genshin Impact, Honkai: Star Rail, PUBG Mobile, or Mobile Legends.
So even if One UI 8.5 is not a massive headline update, stability matters. Better connectivity is useful if you are switching between campus WiFi, hotspot, 5G routers, or using your tablet as a second-screen work machine. Visual improvements also hit harder on the Tab S11 Ultra because the screen is huge — any UI polish is more obvious there.
The Bixby improvements may be more niche for Malaysian users, since many people here still lean on Google Assistant or just do things manually. But if you already live inside Samsung’s ecosystem with a Galaxy phone, Buds, Watch, and tablet, these smaller improvements can make the whole setup feel less fragmented.
How to check for the update
If you own a Galaxy Tab S11 or Galaxy Tab S11 Ultra, you can check manually by going to:
Settings > Software update > Download and install
If nothing appears yet, it likely means the update has not reached your region or device batch. Since the rollout has only started in South Korea, Malaysian users may need to wait a bit longer.
The bigger picture is that Samsung is balancing two tracks right now: stable One UI 8.5 for current devices, while One UI 9 beta is already happening elsewhere. For Tab S11 owners, at least the wait for stable One UI 8.5 is finally ending.
