Samsung’s Galaxy S26 AI tricks are already reaching older Galaxy phones

Samsung is not keeping all its newest Galaxy AI toys locked behind the Galaxy S26 lineup. Through the One UI 8.5 beta, several features first tied to the S26 are now making their way to older Samsung flagships and even the Galaxy S25 FE.

For Malaysian Samsung users, this is the kind of update that actually matters. Phones like the Galaxy S24 series, Z Fold 6, Z Flip 6, Z Fold 7, Z Flip 7, and S25 FE are not exactly cheap here, so getting newer AI features without upgrading immediately is a solid win.

Which Galaxy phones are getting the update?

According to the rollout details, Samsung is expanding the One UI 8.5 beta to quite a wide list of devices. The supported models mentioned include:

  • Galaxy S24 series
  • Galaxy Z Fold 6
  • Galaxy Z Flip 6
  • Galaxy Z Fold 7
  • Galaxy Z Flip 7
  • Galaxy S25 FE

That is a bigger spread than many expected. Usually, the newest AI features arrive first on the latest flagship, then slowly trickle down later. This time, Samsung seems more aggressive about bringing the S26 feature set to recent premium devices.

Important note: these features are currently tied to the One UI 8.5 beta. If your phone is still on stable One UI 8, jangan panic — you are not missing a setting. You will need to wait for the stable One UI 8.5 release before these tools arrive officially.

The useful AI features coming over

The most practical feature here might be Call Screening. It allows the phone to handle unknown calls and show live transcripts. For Malaysia, where spam calls, scam calls, courier calls, and random bank promos are basically part of daily life, this could be genuinely useful.

There is also Creative Studio, which adds generative editing and sticker creation inside the gallery. Basically, Samsung is pushing more content-creation tools directly into the phone, which is great for users who edit TikToks, Instagram Stories, thumbnails, or meme posts without jumping into separate apps.

Photo Assist is also getting better. The update improves object removal and background filling, so cleaning up messy shots should be easier. For travel photos, event shots, cafe snaps, or cosplay photos from local cons, this is the kind of AI editing people will actually use.

Audio Eraser is another big one. It now works with third-party apps, meaning users can reduce wind noise from clips recorded through apps like WhatsApp or Instagram, not just Samsung’s default camera app. That is a smart upgrade because let’s be real — a lot of casual video recording happens directly inside social apps.

Beta builds are already moving

Reports mentioned that the Galaxy Z Flip 6 and Z Fold 6 have received their third One UI 8.5 beta update, with builds F741NKSU3ZZDD and F956NKSU3ZZDD. The update is said to be over 800MB and includes fixes for issues like lock screen clock positioning, taskbar visibility, and audio playback bugs.

India is also part of the beta movement, with the Z Fold 7 and Flip 7 reportedly receiving Beta 4 under build F966BXXU9ZZDD. The Galaxy S25 FE is also said to be getting the update.

Should Malaysian users install the beta?

If this is your main phone, especially if you use it for banking, work, Grab, WhatsApp, or creator jobs, maybe don’t rush. Beta software can be fun, but it can also bring random bugs. For most users in Malaysia, waiting for the stable release is the safer play.

Still, the direction is good. Samsung bringing S26-level AI tools to older premium phones makes the Galaxy ecosystem feel less disposable. If you recently bought an S24, Fold, Flip, or S25 FE, this update should help your phone stay fresh for longer — and that matters when flagship pricing in Malaysia can easily hit several thousand ringgit.

Samsung has not confirmed the stable release date yet, but based on the current beta pace, a wider public rollout could arrive as early as next month.
