Samsung Says One UI 8.5 Bug Is Hiding Enhance-X Photo Editing Features

Samsung’s One UI 8.5 update is already rolling out to older Galaxy devices, but not everything is going smoothly. After reports of the Voice Recorder app crashing, another issue has popped up — this time involving Samsung’s Enhance-X photo editing app.

For Galaxy users who shoot a lot of food pics, convention shots, cosplay portraits, product photos, or just the usual lepak-night selfies, Enhance-X is actually one of Samsung’s more useful bonus apps. It gives users extra editing tools beyond the standard Gallery app, including features like image upscaling and reflection removal.

But after updating to One UI 8.5, some users are finding that parts of Enhance-X have gone missing.

What is happening?

According to user reports highlighted by Android Authority, certain Enhance-X features are disappearing after the One UI 8.5 update. One Samsung Community user said tools such as Filter Styles and Glow plugins were no longer available, even after moving to the latest OS version.

The situation got even more annoying when the user tried the classic fix — delete and reinstall. After removing Enhance-X, they reportedly could not find the app in the Galaxy Store anymore.

That is a pretty rough combo: missing features first, then the app itself becoming hard to reinstall.

Samsung has confirmed the bug

The good news is Samsung is not ignoring it. A moderator from Samsung’s camera team confirmed that Enhance-X is currently affected by a glitch.

Samsung’s team is already working on a fix. Once it is ready, the company plans to release the update in stages, device by device, so the rollout stays stable instead of pushing one big patch to everyone at once.

That staged approach is normal for Samsung, especially when different Galaxy models may behave differently after a software update. It can feel slow when you are the one affected, but it also reduces the risk of another bug landing on top of the first one.

Why Malaysian Galaxy users should care

Samsung phones are everywhere in Malaysia, from flagship Galaxy S and Z series devices to older models that many people still use daily. If you rely on your Galaxy phone for content — TikTok clips, Instagram posts, event coverage, cosplay shoots, cafe photos, marketplace listings, or even esports event memories — missing photo tools can be more than a small inconvenience.

Enhance-X is especially handy because it lets casual users clean up images quickly without jumping into heavier editing apps. Reflection removal, upscaling, and style tools are the kind of features that make phone-shot content look more polished with minimal effort.

So if your Enhance-X suddenly looks emptier after One UI 8.5, jangan panic. It is likely not your phone settings or your account. Based on Samsung’s own response, this is a software-side issue.

What should you do now?

If Enhance-X is still installed on your device, it may be better to avoid uninstalling it for now, especially if you are affected by missing features. Since at least one user reported that the app was no longer visible in the Galaxy Store after deletion, reinstalling may not be straightforward for everyone.

Samsung says the fix may take up to three days to finish rolling out once deployment begins, so the best move is to keep an eye on Galaxy Store updates and system app updates.

It is not the biggest One UI disaster, but it is definitely a reminder that even stable updates can bring weird bugs. For now, Galaxy users who depend on Enhance-X should sit tight and wait for Samsung’s patch.
