Star Fox Switch 2 Remake Preorders Go Live in the UK With Physical Bonuses

Nintendo fans, looks like Fox McCloud is properly back in the cockpit.

After being revealed during Nintendo’s surprise Direct on May 7, the new Star Fox remake for Switch 2 is already available for preorder through My Nintendo Store UK. This is a remake of Star Fox 64, the 1997 Nintendo 64 classic that basically became the version of Star Fox most people remember — barrel rolls, team radio chatter, and all that space dogfighting chaos.

For now, the UK store has both digital and physical preorder options. The cheaper route is the digital download code, priced at £41.99, which Nintendo will send by email. If you still prefer having a cartridge and case on your shelf, the physical edition is listed at £49.99.

That gap matters because Nintendo has been leaning harder into different pricing between digital and physical releases lately. For Malaysian and SEA buyers, this is the kind of thing worth watching closely. If local retailers bring in the physical copy, expect the usual import pricing, shipping, and retailer markup to affect the final RM price. Digital may end up being the cleaner option for players who just want to jump in on launch day, but collectors will probably still chase the box.

The UK preorder also comes with two exclusive physical bonus items from My Nintendo Store UK: a three-piece pin set and a velcro patch featuring the Star Fox team emblem. Not exactly a giant collector’s edition, but for Nintendo fans, these small bonus items can become the difference between “I’ll wait for sale” and “okay lah, preorder now.”

IGN notes that these bonuses have not yet been confirmed for My Nintendo Store US. In the US listing, the Star Fox remake is priced at $49.99 for both the digital and physical versions, so the more obvious digital-versus-physical price difference right now is on the UK side.

The game is scheduled to launch on Thursday, June 25, 2026.

This new Switch 2 release is technically not the first Star Fox 64 remake. Nintendo already revisited the game with Star Fox 64 3D on the Nintendo 3DS back in 2011. But this Switch 2 version sounds like it is aiming for more than a simple visual clean-up. According to the details shared so far, the remake will include improved level design, an expanded story, modernised gameplay mechanics, and new character designs for the Star Fox crew.

For SEA players, the bigger question is whether this remake can make Star Fox feel relevant again. The series has always had iconic characters and strong nostalgia, but it has not been as consistently present as Mario, Zelda, or Metroid. A proper Switch 2 remake could be Nintendo’s chance to reintroduce Star Fox to younger players who never touched the N64 original.

If the gameplay updates are strong and the campaign has enough replay value, this could be one of those “old-school Nintendo but modern controls” releases that lands nicely with both veteran fans and new Switch 2 owners. If not, it risks becoming another nostalgia buy.

Either way, Malaysian Nintendo fans should keep an eye on whether local retailers announce physical stock and whether any preorder bonuses make it outside the UK. The patch and pin set are small, sure — but bro, Nintendo collectors know these things disappear fast.
