Assassin’s Creed Black Flag Resynced Sets July 2026 Release, But Switch 2 Fans Kena Wait

Ubisoft has finally made it official: Assassin’s Creed Black Flag Resynced is launching on 9 July 2026 — but if you were hoping to play it on Switch 2, bad news bro. The game is skipping Nintendo’s new hybrid console, at least for launch.

That means the Black Flag comeback is currently for players on PC, Xbox, and PS5. For Malaysian and SEA fans, this one stings a bit because the Switch crowd here is genuinely strong. A lot of players use Nintendo consoles as their “second system” — easy to bring around, nice for couch gaming, and perfect when you don’t want to boot up a full PC setup after work or class.

The weird part? Ubisoft has actually been supporting Switch 2 pretty well so far. Nintendo Life points out that both Assassin’s Creed Shadows and Star Wars Outlaws landed as solid ports in the console’s first year. So for Black Flag Resynced to miss the ship now feels macam pelik sikit, especially when this is exactly the kind of open-world adventure that could work nicely in handheld mode.

So what is Black Flag Resynced?

Ubisoft has been teasing this project for a while, and now it has been properly revealed through a dedicated showcase. The original Assassin’s Creed IV: Black Flag is still one of the most beloved entries in the series, mainly because it nailed the pirate fantasy: naval battles, island-hopping, sea shanties, sneaky assassinations, and Edward Kenway being messy in a very entertaining way.

Ubisoft also said the original game has reached over 34 million players, which explains why the company is bringing it back. Black Flag has long been one of those Assassin’s Creed games that even non-hardcore AC fans remember fondly. Some fans would still rank Assassin’s Creed II above it, but Black Flag is easily in that top-tier conversation.

The reveal coverage also points to additions like more story content, expanded combat, and improved ship sailing. If Ubisoft actually modernises the naval gameplay properly without overcomplicating it, this could be a strong nostalgia hit — not just a prettier re-release.

What does this mean for Malaysia and SEA players?

If you’re on PS5, Xbox, or PC, you’re good. For PC gamers in Malaysia, this is probably where a lot of the audience will end up anyway, especially with the local scene still very Steam-heavy. But for Switch 2 owners, the lack of a launch version means you either wait and hope Ubisoft ports it later, or play the older versions.

Nintendo players still have options. Assassin’s Creed: The Rebel Collection is available on the original Switch, and if you somehow still have a Wii U lying around, Black Flag exists there too. But let’s be real — a proper Resynced version on Switch 2 would have been the cleaner win.

For now, Ubisoft hasn’t said this is a permanent skip. “At launch” leaves the door open, and with the company already proving it can bring big games to Switch 2, a later port is not impossible. But until Ubisoft confirms it, don’t preorder your hopes.

Bottom line: Black Flag Resynced is real, it’s coming soon, and it sounds like Ubisoft is giving one of its best Assassin’s Creed games a proper upgrade. Just don’t expect to sail on Switch 2 day one.
