Apple M5 MacBook Pro Gets Big Amazon Discount, But Malaysia Buyers Should Check the Fine Print

Apple’s 14-inch M5 MacBook Pro has picked up a pretty serious Amazon discount, and this one is actually worth paying attention to if you’re the kind of person who edits videos, streams, codes, studies, or tries to game on a Mac while pretending it’s totally normal.

According to Wccftech, Amazon is currently listing the Silver version of the 14-inch M5 MacBook Pro with US$300 off, bringing the price down to US$1,799. That works out to roughly RM8,400 before shipping, taxes, import fees, and whatever exchange rate pain your card decides to throw at you.

The key detail here is the configuration. This discounted model comes with 32GB of unified memory and a 1TB SSD. That matters because MacBooks are not upgrade-friendly machines. The RAM and storage are soldered, so what you buy on day one is basically what you live with until you sell it or retire it. For Malaysian buyers spending this kind of money, 32GB RAM is the safer long-term pick compared to trying to survive on a lower memory config for the next five years.

The deal appears to apply only to the Silver model. If you were eyeing the Space Black version, bad news bro — Wccftech notes that the discount is not attached to that colour option.

Under the hood, this M5 MacBook Pro uses Apple’s M5 chip with a 10-core CPU and 10-core GPU. That should be plenty for daily creative workloads, heavy browser use, photo editing, coding, content production, and multitasking. Wccftech also points out that it can handle some AAA gaming workloads, though expectations need to stay realistic. This is still an integrated GPU, not a dedicated RTX gaming laptop, so don’t expect to max out everything and call it a day.

For SEA creators, students, and hybrid workers, the bigger appeal is probably the full package: strong performance, 1TB storage, 32GB memory, and Apple’s usual battery life claim of up to 24 hours on a charge. If you’re moving between campus, cafes, client shoots, airports, or events, that battery life is genuinely useful.

The extra memory also helps if you run a lot of apps at once or experiment with local AI tools and LLMs. That’s becoming more relevant now, especially for creators and developers who don’t want every workflow to depend on cloud services.

But Malaysia buyers should not just see “US$300 off” and instantly checkout. Always compare the final Amazon landed price against Apple Malaysia, authorised resellers, education pricing, and local warranty convenience. Once shipping, import deposits, currency conversion, and after-sales support are factored in, an overseas deal can either become a steal or suddenly look less spicy.

Wccftech says the earliest delivery date listed is May 18. If the final checkout price still beats local options by a meaningful amount, this is a strong deal for anyone who specifically wants a higher-memory MacBook Pro instead of a base model. Just remember: Silver only, check the full cost, and don’t buy purely because the discount banner looks syok.
