OPPO Find X9 Ultra Sounds Like The Camera Phone Samsung And Apple Should Fear

OPPO’s Find X9 Ultra is shaping up to be one of those phones that makes the usual flagship camera debate feel a bit stale.

According to Android Authority’s hands-on, this isn’t just another “AI camera” phone with heavy processing and marketing fluff. OPPO has gone full hardware flex here, packing four large, high-resolution cameras designed to cover everything from wide shots to serious long-range zoom.

That matters because, for the past few years, most people have treated Apple, Samsung and Google as the safe picks for mobile photography. They’re still very good, no doubt. But the Find X9 Ultra is the kind of device that reminds everyone that Chinese Android flagships are moving fast — especially when it comes to sensor size, zoom hardware and portrait performance.

Four cameras, very little dead weight

The big story is versatility. Android Authority found the Find X9 Ultra strong across dynamic range, detail, white balance and colour consistency. Hasselblad’s tuning apparently leans more towards a natural, realistic look rather than the overly punchy colours some phones love to push.

That is good news if you edit your shots later for Instagram, TikTok thumbnails or event galleries. It is always easier to add more colour than to fix a phone that already cooked the image too much.

There are still some quirks. The ultrawide can make greens and blues look a bit too lively, while the 10x zoom may sometimes expose darker than the other lenses. But considering the phone uses four sensors from three different manufacturers, Android Authority still found the overall consistency impressive.

Low-light performance also sounds strong, especially from the main and 3x cameras. OPPO’s processing can sharpen details a little too much at night, and bright lights may bloom with heavy HDR, but the package still seems properly flagship-level.

The 10x zoom is the real flex

The Find X9 Ultra’s headline upgrade over the Find X9 Pro is the dedicated 10x zoom camera. It uses a 50MP sensor with a decent-sized imaging area and a reasonably bright aperture, making it one of the more serious long-range zoom setups on a phone.

In daylight, Android Authority says the 10x camera holds up very well, with strong colour, detail and dynamic range. That is important because long zoom lenses on phones can sometimes feel like a spec-sheet gimmick — cool when the lighting is perfect, rough everywhere else.

For Malaysian and SEA users, this has real use. Concert shots from far seats, cosplay stage photos at events like Comic Fiesta, esports arena moments, travel photos, food market candids — these are exactly the situations where a strong telephoto camera is actually useful. You are not always standing right in front of the subject, bro.

The 3x camera also carries a 200MP sensor, giving enough detail for clean crops around 6x and beyond. So even before jumping to 10x, the phone already has a lot of reach.

Portraits may not need fake blur anymore

One of the more interesting takeaways is how good the Find X9 Ultra appears to be for portraits without relying too much on software portrait mode.

The 3x camera’s 70mm focal length is naturally flattering for people shots, and the wide aperture gives real background blur. Android Authority even says the phone is one of the rare devices where portrait mode feels almost unnecessary.

That is a big deal. A lot of phones still fake that “DSLR look” with aggressive edge detection, and you can usually spot the weird hair cutouts immediately. If OPPO’s hardware can give cleaner natural separation, that is a win for creators, event photographers and anyone shooting friends at cafes, conventions or gaming meetups.

Malaysia angle: powerful, but probably not cheap

The catch? Price. Android Authority notes the OPPO Find X9 Ultra costs €1,699 in Europe, roughly around US$2,000. Converted, that lands somewhere in the ultra-premium RM9,000-plus territory before considering local taxes, import costs or official Malaysia pricing.

So yes, this is not a casual Shopee impulse buy. For most Malaysian buyers, the Find X9 Pro or other camera-heavy flagships may make more sense. But as a statement device, the Find X9 Ultra shows where phone cameras are heading: bigger sensors, better zoom, more natural portraits and less dependence on software tricks.

Samsung, Apple and Google are still huge names, but OPPO, Xiaomi and vivo are clearly pushing the camera hardware race harder right now. If this is the new standard, the next round of flagship phones is going to be spicy.
