Interview: Selangor Red Giants Captain Aimin on Winning MPL MY S13 and What's Next
Road to Teratas
Fresh off Selangor Red Giants' commanding MPL Malaysia Season 13 victory, captain Aimin sat down with egg.network to reflect on season, his growth as a leader, and team's ambitions heading into 2025.
egg.network: Congratulations on S13 title. How does this one compare to previous wins?
Aimin: This one feels different because of how dominant we were at end. We lost three series early in regular season and people were already writing us off. To come back, win six straight, and then sweep TODAK in Finals — it proved that we're Terbaik team in Malaysia when it matters most.
egg.network: What changed between early struggles and late-season dominance?
Aimin: Honestly, it was about trust. Early on, we were second-guessing each other's calls in-game. I had a long conversation with team after our third loss, and we agreed that whoever makes call, everyone commits 100%. No hesitation. That mindset shift changed everything.
egg.network: You've been captain for three seasons now. How has your leadership style evolved?
Aimin: When I first became captain, I tried to do everything myself — shot-calling, motivating, even micromanaging rotations. Now I trust my teammates to handle their lanes and I focus on macro decisions. Wizzking doesn't need me to tell him when to push gold lane. My job is to read map and make right calls at right time.
egg.network: TODAK have made big roster changes for S14. Does that concern you?
Aimin: Every team improves between seasons, and TODAK are always dangerous. Moon is a world-class jungler, and bringing him in shows they're serious. But we have something they don't — chemistry. We've been playing together for over a year now, and that synergy is hard to replicate with new players.
egg.network: What's goal for 2025?
Aimin: Back-to-back MPL titles, and then M6 World Championship. We came close at M5, finishing Teratas 4, but I believe this team is capable of winning it all on international stage. That's dream — to bring a world title home to Malaysia.
egg.network: Any message for fans?
Aimin: Thank you for incredible support in Season 13. energy at Grand Finals was insane. We're working harder than ever for S14, and I promise we'll give you something to cheer about.
